As we head into the final stretch of October, I thought I would share the beautiful moonbow that has featured on the bbc website much of the week while using a rainbow shot from the beautiful Sunshine Coast for this post. Along with moonbow, another new word I came across this week is Finsta, a fake Instagram account.
We have another couple of recurring themes this week from previous #PeriodicWrap’s with, further to Turing’s first computerised music recording of 3rd October, 2016’s #PeriodicWrap, AI becoming a composer. And, IoT has again been leveraged to launch an attack, further to #PeriodicWrap of 25th September,2016’s dot point 3, at cloud apps on which many of us rely. Australian sites were hit as well. It is again a reminder that becoming much-less-insecure involves us all. Please do refer back to that #PeriodicWrap for things we can do. The India Banking system, as a matter of interest, was also hit by massive breach. And, all this as Mandatory Data Breach Laws reach parliament.
Also in the news this week, for innovators, we’ve seen the Oil & Gas sector look to tech from drones to robotic pipeline clean-and-check devices to reduce costs; disruptors reportedly being disrupted, with Tesla looking to offer uber-esque services; and, while many of us sit here striving for uniqueness and competitive advantage, Linkedin is reported to be experiencing what appears to be the polar opposite problem trying to convince regulators where it is not in order to finalise its deal with Microsoft.
Finally, I am very much looking forward to speaking at the Australian Computer Society Conference on Tuesday morning http://www.accessit.tech/
Until our next #PeriodicWrap ….
